Lily's Whims' Story...
I stumbled upon a jewelry trunk show at clothing store in Larkspur, and even though the prices were in the 'there's no way I would spend that much for a necklace' range, I fell in love. Hard.
Since she greeted me at the door, I had a chat with the designer, after trying it on, I made her an offer of a price where I would totally be stretching myself, but feel like if she said yes, it would be an act of expanding my comfort zone and being really good to myself. I've always just treated my boys well, and put myself last, but as a new empty nester, I want to practice self love. After making her the verbal offer, I gave her my card and went to dinner and said if she's interested, to please call me and I'll come by after dinner to pick it up. As soon as I ordered, I texted her, reiterating to her my wish to have the necklace (which even the designer admitted that, when it was on me, said 'I feel I made this necklace FOR YOU'), and hope she will accept my offer.
That night, I didn't hear from her, but I heard from the person I texted erroneously, I got her cell number wrong by one digit. This complete stranger, who I perceive as the voice of the Universe, said 'Of course treat yourself right queen, you deserve the world! #selflove #treatyourself #workingmother'.
I was happy with that message, but a bit sad I didn't hear from the designer.
The next morning, she did call!
Since she was heading to Santa Barbara for another trunk show, she and I arranged for the exchange.
The necklace was too long, so I decided to shorten it myself.
In the act of doing that, my light bulb went off and said 'why don't I make necklaces for myself?'
And this adventure in creating beautiful one of kind pieces was born, because I treat colored beads like paints in a palette, and when I'm creating, I don't follow rules, I just follow my heart.
I hope one of my pieces will speaks to you, as my chosen piece spoke to me...
